Michael Vey is a normal kid in middle school. He gets bullied and has trouble focusing in class. Just a typical teenager in except for an incredible ability. Since he was a kid, Michael has had powers to control electricity. He could shock people and soak up electricity. When his mom is kidnapped by a mysterious group, Michael's life is turned around. Can he save her? Are there others with abilities like him and where?

This book is a really good choice for someone who wants to pleasure-read. The first book has lots of action. It is mysterious, and "electrifying". One issue in this book is that there is sometimes too much action and not enough rest. At one point I put the book down, exhausted. Still, I liked the plot and enjoyed the book.

The next books, however, were not worth the time spent reading. They got decreasingly interesting and eventually unenjoyable. I found it annoying that the author was making the series unnecessarily long. After 6 books, the antagonist is still alive, with no explanation. So, I would definitely recommend the first book, but not the rest of the series.
